Obituaries: Harry William Tevis (June 17, 1910 – Sept. 14, 2011)

Harry William Tevis, 91, passed away on September 14, 2011, in Crescent City. He was born to Frank and Adeline Tevis on June 17, 1920, in Hillsborough, Wash. Harry was a 55-year resident of Del Norte County.

A WWII veteran, Harry served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Benton Lodge #277 F&AM in Benton City, Wash.; Order of Eastern Star, Roza Chapter #238 in Benton City, Wash.; VFW Post #2669 in Port Orchard, Wash.; B.P.O.E., #1689 of Crescent City.

Harry is survived by his wife Dorothy Mae Tevis of Crescent City; sons William Tevis and Robert Tevis, both of St. George, Utah; brother Joe Tevis of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Adeline Tevis and brother Robert Tevis.

The family requests contributions be made in Harry’s memory to the Humane Society of Del Norte, 821 Elk Valley Road, Crescent City, CA  95531.

Private services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
