Irene Marion Van Dyke passed away Thursday, April 14, at home with her loving family at her side. Irene celebrated her 90th birthday on March 9.
She was born in Tillamook, Ore., to Alex and Marion Salway. She married Ernest Van Dyke on September 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1982.
Survivors include her six children, their spouses and children: Mary and Jim Daly, daughters Rebecca and Elizabeth, Stephen Van Dyke and son Samuel, Julie and John Rollin, daughters Melonie, Wendy, Monica, Bonnie and son John, Edward and Beverly Van Dyke, daughter Sarah and son Jeffrey, Greta Kirsch, sons Jeremiah and Joseph, daughter Lynsey and Kurt and Christina Van Dyke, son Kyle and daughter Marissa. Ten great-grandchildren complete the circle.
Irene was a long-time member of the Crescent City Catholic community
and spent the last three years in Swisshome, Ore. with her daughter
Julie and her husband John Rollin, who lovingly cared for her until her
death.
She was much loved and will be missed by all who knew her giving and
fun-loving nature. Irene was a fine example of a committed, loving,
Christian mother.

Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial services will be held at St.
Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 27 at 10 a.m. with interment
to follow at the Del Norte County Veterans Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited for fellowship following services at
St. Joseph Parish Hall.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of
Crescent City.
