James Warren Sharp, born on November 10, 1940, to Charles and Jessie Sharp in Merced, Calif., passed away on August 11, 2011, in Crescent City. He was the oldest of four children. The family moved to Crescent City in 1955, where Jim finished school in 1957. He worked at Nor Cal Plywood, Simonson Lumber and Carl’s Upholstery.
He bought the upholstery shop in March 1968 and enjoyed working and meeting new friends every year.
Jim loved to hunt and planned trips with anyone who could go with him. He joined Del Norte Rod and Gun Club in 1969, really enjoyed shooting trap and challenging anyone to shoot continental doubles. Jim was past President and Zone Chairman of the Lions Club, a 37-year member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #1689 and Past President of the Redwood Empire Modeler Association. Jim loved to fly and show off his model planes to everyone.
He is survived by his mother Jessie, wife Pat; children Jimmy
(Debbie); Mike; Kathy (Randy); Mitchell and Marle (Greg). Sister Debi,
brother Roger (Leona); 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Charles Sharp, sister
Sharleen Sharp and granddaughter Jennifer Winklemann.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Elk’s Scholarship
fund or a charity of one’s choice.
Memorial services will be held a the Elk’s Lodge, 359 H Street,
Crescent City, on Saturday, August 27, at 1 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of
Crescent City.
