Jim and Melissa "Missy" Hernandez of Lindsay, husband and wife, died May 16, 2007.
Both worked for California Department of Corrections for more than 15 years.
Melissa was born July 13, 1960, in Hawaii. She raised and bred exotic cats.
Jim was born Feb. 22, 1962, in Plainview, Texas. He was an accomplished boxer, and loved landscaping and construction. He was courageous and was always willing to help others.
Jim is survived by his mother, Gloria Chavez; two children, Marie Vasquez of Porterville and Jimmy Hernandez of Visalia; seven siblings, Susan, Esther, Mike, Rosalinda, Raymond, Andy and Joe; two grandchildren, Haylie and Nathaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melissa is survived by her father, Jerry Shepard; one son, Michael and two daughters, Marisa Cruz of Crescent City and McKenna; three sisters, Susan, Stacey and Kym; two brothers, Rick and Steve; one granddaughter, Alexis; and many nieces and nephews.
Services and scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Assembly of God church in Tulare, with burial following at North Tulare Cemetery.
