John Henry Yingst III was born June 21, 1940, in Lebanon, Pa, and passed on April 27, 2011, in Fairfield, Conn.
He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1958. He attended Humbolt State. He began his career as a forestry engineer for Simpson Timber Company. He followed his passion for the outdoors and was a commercial fisherman in Crescent City for over 30 years. He was the captain of the Seabird. He also served as a harbor commissioner for the Crescent City Harbor District. He was a member of the 1609 Elks Lodge for over 45 years. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who loved golfing, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen J. Yingst, maiden
name Crivelli. Two children: Dr. Sarah Leite and her husband, Richard,
of Fairfield, Conn., John Yingst IV and his wife, Jessica, of Mesa,
Ariz. He had three grandchildren: Alexandra Elizabeth Leite (5),
Isabella Marie Yingst (5), and Zack Ryan Leite (2). He was the son of
John H. Yingst Jr and Mary Louise Yingst. He is survived by his brother
James Yingst and his wife Paula of Roseburg, Ore., and his sister Jane
Bannerman and her husband Bruce of Eureka, and sister, Mary Ellen East
and her husband Mike of Crescent City.
