John R. Pittman, 72, died April 7 in Crescent City. He was born March 22, 1935 in Sacramento.
As a young man he actively logged the beaches of our area, proudly salvaging with his home-made self loader log truck many board feet of timber that would have been lost otherwise.
He loved to fly little planes. He was fascinated with J.F.K., the Valdez oil spill and Brother Jonathan. He was very fluent with poetry.
He had a love for Alaska, and traveled there several times.
He was a member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by four children.
An Irish wake will be held at the V.F.W. Hall. at a later date. For the time and date please call the V.F.W. Hall.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
