John Stuart Christensen, born February 17, 1941, in San Francisco, passed away on May 5, 2011, in Crescent City. He was a nine year resident of Del Norte County.
John enjoyed motorcycle riding, wood working, and was an all-around handy man who built his own log home. Prior to his retirement, John was a firefighter for 25 years and then was an arson investigator. John was a huge sports fan, he especially loved the 49’ers, Giants, Sharks and Warriors. He bowled a 300 in league play! He enjoyed spending time with his lovely wife, and together they traveled to all 50 states and all Canadian Provinces. John was known for his great laugh and sense of humor. He always knew when to say “yes Dear.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Margaret Christensen
of Crescent City; daughter Cindy and husband Mark Selover and son Rich
Christensen all of Redwood City; granddaughters Rachel, Alexis and
grandson Andrew; great-grandchildren Lola and Delilah; sister-in-law
Rosemarie and husband Tony Psaila of San Mateo; nephew Anthony and wife
Traci Psaila of Belmont; and great nieces Morgan and Erin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Mary
Herger.
All those who knew and cared about John and who want to support
Margaret are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering at the family
home on Saturday, May 14 from 3 to 6 p.m.
On May 28, at 1 p.m. a graveside service will be held at Holy Cross
Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road, Colma, Calif.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1301
Northcrest Drive, Crescent City, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
