Keith Franklin Stanshaw, 36, was born July 27, 1971 in Eureka. He died on Jan. 18, 2008.
He was an avid bicycle rider and enjoyed maintaining his physical fitness. He loved to play basketball with his brothers and cousin, Wally. He also loved martial arts who studied and practiced Jujitsu.
He was a member of the Yurok Tribe. Keith was very passionate about keeping his native heritage and identity alive. He will be missed and remembered for his love for his family. He was known as "Pumpkin" to his father. Keith was full of life. He will be missed for his energy and love of the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anita and Frank Murdock, his parents Jean and Samuel Stanshaw, his brother and sister Lorin Bloyd and Lori Haas and paternal auntie Joan Richards.
He is survived by his sisters, Cheryl Haas of Hoopa, and Jeanne (Danny) Stanshaw of Loleta; his brothers, Samuel and (Angela) Stanshaw, Kevin Stanshaw, of Smith River, and Allen and (Jennifer) Stanshaw of Happy Camp. He is also survived by his aunties and uncles; Sue (Mathew) Painter of Eureka; Joann (Wally) Scott of Arcata; Frank (Marge) Murdock of Pine Ridge, S.D., and Edwin Richards of Howonquet. He also is survived by his nieces and nephews; Joseph Hernandez of Hoopa; Raymond and Daniel Hernandez of Oakland; Kah'nee'ta Lewis of Hoopa; Domonic and Shayla Lopez of Loleta and Ka-nuk, Reggie, Makayla, and Julianna Stanshaw of Happy Camp and Cerdar Apache Stanshaw.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wier's Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with interment at the Howonquet Indian Cemetery, Smith River.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel.
