Kenneth Wagner
Kenneth Wagner passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, after suffering for many years from a painful neck injury which resulted from a logging accident. He had just turned 61 years old, and was born on February 13, 1949,in Paradise, Calif.. However, he considered himself a life -long Del Norte resident, since his parents moved the family to their home in the Bertsch tract in Crescent City when he was barely a year old. While growing up, he and his brothers amused themselves gathering chittum bark and playing in the forest near their home, where they once even came face-to-face with Bigfoot! As a teenager he worked for West Coast Crab, helping to unload fishing boats and process the seafood. Later, he became a highly skilled truck driver, hauling logs all over northern California and Oregon, and was always eager to show that he could handle any piece of heavy equipment. An unfortunate injury from falling logs caused the neck injury that eventually ended his driving career. Kenny always enjoyed laughing and drinking with friends, and watching his beloved Cowboys play. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and especially spending time at the cabin on his tree farm in the Low Divide area near Crescent City. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Violet and Shirdon Wagner, Sr. and a baby grandchild Tiffany. He is survived by Harriet Clough, his wife of 35 years; a daughter, Kenna, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Rose; brothers Edd of Tennessee, Shirdon “Junior” (Caroline) of Eureka, Calif., Norman (Darla) of Florence, Ore., and Charles (Sandra) of Ferndale, Wash.; sister Janet (Jim) of Sunny Valley, Ore.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He always loved sharing stories of his past experiences, so we plan to honor him with a Circle of Remembrance, where everyone is welcome to come and share their favorite stories and memories of Kenny on Saturday March 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Vets Hall, 8th and H streets, in Crescent City.
