Obituaries: Lillian Elizabeth Nelsen (Dec. 26 1920 – July 26, 2011)

Lillian Elizabeth Nelsen was born December 26, 1920, on a small ranch outside Aurora, Colorado. She passed away on July 26, 2011, in Crescent City, at the age of 90. Lillian attended elementary school in Aurora and completed high school in Denver. She was the ninth sibling in a family of 10 children. Lillian had five brothers and four sisters. The surviving member of the family is Mary A. Pfremmer, age 92, of Smith River.

Lillian completed training at the Bishop Tailoring Institute in Denver. She was a talented seamstrees and completed many creative sewing projects in addition to her work. Lillian retired from Safeway Markets in Reedsport, Ore. She completed many projects for the community of Reedsport, including the Senior Center and the Food Bank.

She spent many of her retirement years in Woodburn, Ore., with her late husband Dale Nelsen.

Lillian will be remembered as a generous, community-aware, hard-working lady.

She is also survived by her step-son Dale Greenberg, grandson Chad and seven other grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011, at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Reesport Masonic Cemetery, Reedsport, Ore., on Wednesday, August 10 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
