Obituaries: Loreen J. (Lehman) Smallwood (Oct. 21, 1935 – July 27, 2011)

Loreen J. Smallwood of Antelope, Calif., died July 27, 2011, in Roseville, Calif.

She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Crescent City.

Loreen graduated from Del Norte High School in Crescent City in 1953.

She married Robert V. Smallwood Aug. 17, 1968, and together they owned the 9th St. Market, as well as the craft store – Crafts Plus– in Crescent City.

She was a legal secretary for the majority of her life. She enjoyed crocheting and taking care of her many chickens.

Loreen is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy May and Primo Bertolini of Gasquet, her children Stacie Lee of Sacramento, Kathleen Hyre of Anacortes, Wash., Darrell Hyre of Anacortes, Wash., and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Joyce Hart of Eatonville, Wash. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert V. Smallwood.

A  memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Masonic Cemetery, 400 Cooper Ave., in Crescent City.
