Marian Elizabeth "Mimi" McGath, 90, of Brookings, died July 24, 2008 at a local care facility of natural causes.
She was born Nov. 17, 1917 in Rossville, Ill., to George Herbert Miller and Stella May Cox Miller.
She married Daniel V. McGath, Sr. on June 20, 1939. They moved from Illinois to Riverside, Calif., where she worked at Bournes Lab, was active in the Moose Lodge and square dancing, while always putting her family first.
In 1981, they moved to Central Point, Ore., where she was active in the Central Point Senior Center, VFW and RSVP. She also continued her love of dance.
Family gatherings were very important to her. She loved celebrating all things with her granddaughters and then her great-grandsons.
She is survived by sons Daniel and his wife Linda of Crescent City, and Michael and his wife Vickie of Kalispell, Mont.; granddaughters Lisa McGath of Smith River, Michelle Fairchild and husband Dale of Ely, Nev., Cynthia De Somber and husband Earl of Crescent City and Jennifer Pettis of Columbia Falls, Mont.; great-grandsons Justin Sturtevant, Jared McCasland, Ramoan Pettis, Anthony Pettis, Bridger Pettis all of Mesa, Ariz., and Nicole De Somber, Derrick De Somber, and Ryland De Somber all of Crescent City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel in 1999, a daughter Patricia McGath, brothers Edward, Amel, Walter, Kenneth, and sisters Meredith, Beatrice, Frances and Alma.
Services will be private.

Cremation was under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel.
