Obituaries: Mary Mello (April 16, 1953 – June 19, 2011)

Mary Mello was born April 16, 1953, at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City. She passed away at home with her family on June 19, 2011.

As a youth Mary, enjoyed spending time in Hiouchi with her grandparents. Mary was also on the Del Norte High School Drill Team and was a Cheer and Song leader. Mary’s contemporary hobbies included reading, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of her family and cooking.

Surviving family members include her husband of 39 years, Emo Mello, son Richard  and his wife Jennifer Mello and their children Rachel and Paula Mello; son Dominic Mello and his children Haden and Hailey Mello, all of Crescent City.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles A Thunen and wife Louise Thunen and Mary’s father, Thomas Gooch.

Upon her request, no services will be held. In lieu of cards or flowers, interested parties are asked to donate to cancer research.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
