Morris "Dynamite" Ricks, 88, died July 12 in Crescent City.
He was born Dec. 4, 1918 to Ninon and Minnie (James) Ricks 1918 in Hartshorne, Okla, and was a 57-year resident of Del Norte County, having moved here from Salinas.
He was previously a farmer and worked as a clipper operator in a mill for 47 years.
He was past president of Far West C.B. Club for 3 years.
He loved his job as a crossing guard at Bess Maxwell School.
He is survived by his children, Donald D. Ricks of Rocky Ford, Colo., Gloria Jean Alexander of Crescent City and Patricia Ann Dewey of Pacific, Wash.
He is also survived by his brother, Jesse Lee Ricks (Mary) of North Bend, Ore.; and by his grandchildren, Anita Ricks - Everett, Pahrump, Nev., Robin (Joseph) Stephens of Bellingham, Wash., Randi Little, Scottsdale, Ariz., Candi (Jason) Mouser, Lynden, Wash., Erika Ricks, Rocky Ford, Colo., Gail Delong, Denver, Colo., Penny Dewey of Seattle, Wash. and Diana Ruelas of Seattle, Wash.
In addition he is survived by 11 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ricks; his parents, three sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wier's Mortuary Chapel. Private interment will take place the Del Norte County Veteran's Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel.
