Obituaries: Patricia Louise Williams (Sept. 5, 1927 – April. 26, 2011)

Patricia Louise Williams, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 26, 2011.

Pat was born the youngest of six in Wilmont, Minn. She enjoyed a happy childhood in Iowa, and frequently entertained her grandchildren with tales of ice-skating to school. As a young woman, Pat moved to California and served as a Western Union operator, eventually settling in Crescent City where she worked at Bay City Market. Pat met her husband, Chuck Williams, at a canasta card party organized by match-making friends. Pat and Chuck married in 1951, in Eureka. They raised four children in a warm and loving home in Crescent City, where Pat took great pride in caring for her family. Pat opened her home and heart to care and nurture many special friends whom she came to embrace as family.

Many summers were spent working at the lunch house at Dad’s Camp, the Williams family business, at the mouth of the Klamath River. She worked alongside family members where she met many lifelong friends and found great satisfaction in serving hungry fishermen. Pat later worked at as a teller at Wells Fargo Bank. Going to work was a joy for Pat as she loved helping people and working with a cherished group of friends.

Pat was a loving wife who was known for her devotion to her husband of 60 years. As a mother, she dedicated her life to raising her children. As a doting grandmother, she delighted in every aspect of her grandchildren’s lives. Pat lived a gracious life. She was a devout Christian and a long-standing member of Fort Dick Bible Church where she served in many capacities. Pat’s days were filled with many of life’s pleasures such as sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, attending sporting events, playing cards and Yahtzee, and baking her renowned carrot cake for celebrations. Pat will be fondly remembered for her love of family, friends, faith and community. She will be sorely missed.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved son Steve, her parents, Raynard and Lydia Sawyer, sisters, Marian, Odessa, Joyce and Marcella, and her brother Tom. Survivors include her husband, Charles V. Williams, children Sue Ann Prauss, Chuck Williams (Holly), and Stormi Turner (Ken); grandchildren Steven, George, Charlie, Trevor, Shasta, Sheena, Darienne, and Dashiell; and five great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Friday April 29, from 2-5 p.m. Funeral service for Patricia is set for noon on Saturday, April 30, at Fort Dick Bible Church, 6725 Lake Earl Drive, Fort Dick. A fellowship will be held following burial services.

Arrrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
