Patrick Hewitt Lang, 65, died at his home in Eugene, Ore., on March 3. He was born Sept. 30, 1942, to Jack and Genevieve Lang.
Mr. Lang enjoyed his many visits to Del Norte County to visit family, and his burial will be at the Smith River Cemetery.
He graduated from Santa Paula High School, Ventura College, University of California at Santa Barbara and Willamette University Law School. He worked for the FBI for 26 years, including international assignments in Panama, Mexico, Haiti, South Africa, Somalia and Palestine.
He later served as director of the U.S. Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program. He was also the Latin American regional director for the Motion Picture Association's Anti-Piracy Program.
Mr. Lang headed the brand integrity program for Canadian and Latin American regions for Phillip Morris International.
He is survived by his wife Holly of Eugene; daughters Marcie Lang of Alexandria, Va., and Sophie Lang of Eugene; son Robert "Nick" Lang of Samoa, Calif.; sisters Jacqueline Peters and Virginia Anthony of Crescent City; nieces Tracy Freiwald of Smith River and Kelly Cahill of Marblemount, Wash.; great-niece Erin Cahill of Gunnison, Colo.; great-nephews Zach Freiwald of Smith River and Tim Cahill of Prague in the Czech Republic. He will be remembered by numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be honored at a memorial service in Eugene, Ore.
