The graveside service for Mr. John will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Klamath Memorial Park, 2680 Memorial Dr., Klamath Falls, Ore., with Father Rogatian Urassa of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Klamath Falls, officiating.
Mr. John, 90, of Medford, Ore., died Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Medford. He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Marianna, Penn., to Ralph and Rose John. On Dec. 25, 1952 he married Florence S. “Willie” Phair, who died in 2006. During WW II, Mr. John served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific. He was a duck hunting guide and owned Pete’s Guide Service, having guided for many well known celebrities throughout the years. He and his wife lived in the Tulelake area for many years. In 1971 they moved to Klamath, Calif., and two years later to Smith River, where he was very active at the Ship Ashore, being known as “Oyster Pete” for his oyster feeds during various salmon and steelhead fishing derbies.
Survivors include five nieces and nephews, all of the New York area,
and a host of friends from many areas.
