Obituaries: Raymond Thomas "Casey"Cassidy(1931-2007)

Raymond Thomas "Casey" Cassidy, 76, died on December 23, 2007 in Crescent City. He was born on June 27, 1931 in Anacortes, Wash. He was a resident of Del Norte County since 1955.

Mr. Cassidy was a veteran having served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mill worker. During his high school years he enjoyed sports and played football. Raymond also liked fast cars. He loved to paint and cake decorating. Raymond enjoyed the redwoods, fishing on the river and sunbathing in his back yard. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sisters Arlene Walters of Crescent City, Venetta Gasper of Washington and Velma Geib of Crescent City; nephew Jeff Walters and stepson Leonard Balfour, both of Crescent City; and stepson Matthew Stergon of Washington. He is also survived by numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Maybelle (Williamson) Cassidy, brothers Ron, Joseph and Robert Cassidy and sister Vivian Martin.

Private inurnment will take place at the Del Norte County Veteran's Cemetery, in Crescent City. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
