Rev. Joyce Swett, 78, of Modesto, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011. She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Fort Dick, to Albert and Maude McKay.
Joyce graduated from L.I.F.E. Bible College in 1954, and along with her husband, Rev. Donald Swett, entered a lifetime of ministry with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. They served together as Evangelists, Assistant Pastors, and Senior Pastors. Widowed in 1987, Joyce continued to faithfully serve others, encompassing 57 years as an ordained minister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Jessen;
her brother, Donald McKay; her husband, Rev. Donald Kenneth Swett; and
her great-granddaughter, Isabella. She is survived by her four children,
Dr. Karen Swett, of Modesto, Calif., Rev. Ken (Wanda) Swett of Modesto,
Calif., Kevin (Margaret) Swett of Ceres, Calif., and Kyle Swett of Elk
Grove, Calif.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is
also survived by her sisters, Beverly Smith of Crescent City, Alberta
Pearcey of Cloverdale, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
