Obituaries: Richard LeRoy Chowning (Jan. 27, 1938 – Aug. 5, 2011)
 Richard LeRoy Chowning aged 73, of Seal Rock, Ore., passed away Aug. 5, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Inglewood, Calif., to David C. Chowning and Wilma Mae Chowning.
Richard graduated in 1955, Downey High School, Downey, Calif. He married Jackie R. Shackelford in 1960 in Linwood, Calif. He was self-employed as a general contractor of Chowning Construction.He was a member of the Elks. He was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed fishing and after his retirement, he loved to garden; most of all loved his family. He is survived by his wife Jackie (Shackelford) Chowning of Seal Rock, Ore., children: daughters Debbie Humpbrey of Nevada, Rhonda (Gary) Paulson of Salem, Ore., and son David Chowning of Seal Rock, Ore. Grandchildren: Brandy (Geoff) Marshall, Kyle and Kayla Paulson and Ricky Chowning. Great-grandchildren: Faith. Siblings: Glen Chowning. Preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Chowning; father, David C. Chowning, and brother, Greg Chowning. No services per his request.
