Obituaries: Ronald Leslie Johnson(1943-2008)

Ronald Leslie Johnson, 64, passed away June 4, 2008, in Crescent City. He was born Oct. 4, 1943, in Charlotte, N.C. He was a 28-year resident of Del Norte County.

Ron's hobbies included painting and drawing. He also enjoyed working on cars, yard sales and taking care of his dog.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Johnson; children Michelle Johnson of Ohio, Dennis Johnson of Eureka, and Ronnie Johnson and Mary Joann Johnson of Crescent City; mother Mary Addison of Rebecca, Ga.; mother-in-law Thelma Owings of Crescent City; brothers Jerry Johnson of Gasquet, Wayne Johnson of Florida and Timothy Johnson of Rebecca, Ga.; brother-in-law Edwin Owings of Crescent City; sister Mary Wolf of Willits; grandchildren Kayla, Myrhia and Samara of Ohio, Deven of Eureka, Serria, Tianna and Breaunna of Crescent City; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and cousins.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Johnson, and brother, Randall Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1301 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City, CA 95531, VFW Auxiliary, P.O. Box 360, Crescent City, CA 95531 or Humane Society of Del Norte, 821 Elk Valley Road, Crescent City.

Memorial services will be held at Beachfront Park, under the canopy, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
