Shirley Marion Sanders, 71, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, went to be with her lord and savior on August 19, 2011.
Shirley, known as “lady bug” to her friends and family, was born in Crescent City, the youngest of five siblings
She frequently entertained her friends and family with her jolly personality.
As a young women she was a telephone operator and worked as a hospice
provider. Her first job in her brother-in-law, Darrel Orr’s grocery
store started her career in the grocery business. She also worked at
Jericks’s and Whitely Oil.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, and at
one time served as President of Ladies Auxiliary.
Her three boys were her pride and joy. She met Dave Sanders at a
dance and they were married in 1988. They remained a loving couple for
23 years. Shirley will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Survivors include her husband Dave Sanders, children Steven McGhee
and David Malfavon; grandchildren Becca McGhee, Mason and Micha
Malfavon; sisters Frances Chambers, Betty Thompson, and Marie Orr, and
brother Donald Crain. She was preceded in death by her son Larry McGhee
and her parents Shorty and Mildred Crain
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, at 2 p.m. at
Faith Christian Center, 117 Brookings Ave, Smith River.
