Virginia Rose Couch, 91, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in Crescent City. She was born on Sept. 24, 1916 in Portland, Ore. She moved to Del Norte County in 2002 from Weaverville.
She loved gardening, canning, cooking, and made the best pies. She was always happiest serving large meals to lots of people. She was a member of the Weaverville TOPS Club.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Beverly (Charley) Snodgrass, son Richard (Barbara) Beatty, brother Donald (Teddy) Smith, sister-in-law Bea Smith, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Marshall Couch, her parents Robert and Irene (McHugh) Smith, her brothers Gerald and Edward Smith.
Graveside services were held at Weaverville Cemetery on Oct. 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital or a local animal shelter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary of Crescent City, and Forrest's Funeral Home of Weaverville.
