Alan Leo Russell, 58, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2012, in Crescent City. He was born in Florence, Ore., on December 13, 1953, but moved to Crescent City as a child and has been a lifelong resident since. Alan is a 1972 graduate of Del Norte High School and received an Associate’s degree from College of the Redwoods.
Alan’s kind, welcoming and humorous personality filled the halls of Seaside and Sutter Coast Hospital where he worked as an electrician for 26 years. He was a very proud father and grandfather. Alan was always excited to hear about his daughter’s accomplishments and his face always lit up when he got to spend time with his grandchildren, who he loved with all his heart. He is and will always be loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Alan is survived by his children Caroline Michael and husband William; Jennifer Jones and husband Bobby; grandchildren Evan Michael, Luella Jones, Ashley Michael and great-granddaughter Izabella Bennett; sister Janet L. Thompson; Alan’s closest friends who were a very important part of his life, Julian Camarena and wife Carol; and loving lifelong companion Laurie Gardner; mother-in-law Nadine Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his beloved mother Luella Ross (Dressler), father Charles Russell, sisters Marjorie (Pat) Winchester and Marilyn (Bonnie) Keene, brothers Walter (Sonny) Keene and Howard Keene and father-in-law Denver Gardner.

Visitation will be held at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, 408 G Street, Crescent City, for family and friends from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City.
