Obituary: Alvin Emery Burr (May 2, 1927 – May 26, 2013)

Alvin Emery Burr, born, on May 2, 1927, in Nehalem, Ore., passed away on May 26, 2013, in Crescent City at the age of 86. He was a 56-year resident of Del Norte County. Mr. Burr was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in Germany. From 1950 to 2010, he was employed as a logger and land developer.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Burr of Crescent City; sons, Marvin (Nancy) Burr of Crescent City; Terral (Nancy) Burr of Ukiah, Ore.; David (Vicky) Burr, also of Crescent City; daughter-in-law, Libby Burr of Cocoa, Fla.; and brother George (Marilyn) Burr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Brian Burr, Joshua Burr, Derrick Burr, Keith Ownsby, Mandy Ownsby, Marcus Burr, Kevin Burr, Michael Crumrine, Lisa Walford, Geffery Burr and eight great-grandchildren. In addition, nephew Marvin (Doreen) Stephens and other numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Mr. Burr was preceded in death by his mother, Silvia Burr; brother Gerald Burr; sister, Rosella Hendrickson, and son Lawrence Burr.

Contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.

Private family services will be held.
