Arthur “Art” Alfred Davey was born in Hollywood, Calif., on November 16, 1931, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan K. Davey (née Hamlin) and the rest of his family after a long illness in Roseville, Calif., on July 27, 2012.
Art retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1973 after 30 years of dedicated service and continued his dedication in the Marine Corps League, which donates funds and assistance to active and former marines, their widows and orphans. He also enjoyed donating his time and assistance to Toys for Tots, fishing, Judo and most of all spending time with his family. Art’s generous spirit will be greatly missed by those he touched throughout his life, but never more so than by his loving families.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Arthur E. and Grace E. Davey; and his sister Eleanor Carpenter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan K. Davey of Roseville, Calif.; his daughter, Kathy Wilson (George) of Brown Summit, N.C.; his sons, Randy Davey (Deanna) of Jacksonville, N.C., David Davey (LaVonne) of Bakersfield, Calif., and Scott Davey (Charlene) of Roseville, Calif.; his sister Carolyn Fernandez (Fred) of Pollock Pines, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
At the family’s request there will be no formal services, but donations may be made to Toys for Tots in Art’s name. Arrangements are under the direction of Cochrane’s Chapel of the Roses (916) 783-7171.
