While growing up in Crescent City, she was very active in 4-H and the Lake Earl Grange with Jr. Livestock projects in dairy, sheep, beef and horses. Her first love was horses, and she competed locally and in Region 13 under the California State Horsemen’s Association. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends and traveling to livestock and horse competitions. Ashley shared, with her father, a deep love for the outdoors, loved to duck hunt, deer hunt or just plain trail ride to enjoy nature. Her friends remember the good times while swimming their horses in our great Smith River.
She will be gravely missed by her mother, Tami Hartwick; her father, Larry Hartwick; brother, Daniel Hartwick; grandmother, Eunice Hartwick; grandmother, Pat Shields; grandfather, Jerry Cutsforth; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, L.B. Hartwick.
The family invites extended family and friends to join them in a Celebration of Ashley’s Life on Saturday, July 13, at 1 p.m. in the Crescent City Cultural Center.
The family requests any donations made in Ashley’s memory be sent to the Del Norte County Scholarship Foundation at 125 Cable Lane, Crescent City, California 95531.
