Barbara Buckland Reeve died Thursday, November 3, 2011, in her home in Gasquet. She was born in Appleton, Wis., on August 3, 1944. She is survived by her husband, Craig Baker, her sister Betsy, her brother Jim, and many nieces, nephews and friends from around the world.
Barbara helped many people throughout Asia, Africa and other parts of the world. She supported the education of under-privileged children and youth. Some have now graduated from college and are skilled professionals in their countries. She cared for the sick and destitute. She brought joy, strength, nourishment, hope and laughter to all those who knew her.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Madame Gasquet Cemetery on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 1 p.m. followed by a potluck at the American Legion Hall in Gasquet. A family memorial service is also being planned for next summer in Ephram, Wis.
Memorial donations can be made to the Gasquet volunteer firefighters (P.O. Box 85, Gasquet, CA 95543) or to the House of Flowers, an orphanage and school in Kabul, Afganistan, operated by the Medical Educational Peace Organization (MEPO/Badawang Art, 37 Maple St., Summit, NJ 07901).
