Obituary: Betty Aileen Swanson Blagden (May 24, 1921 – Sept. 29, 2011)

Born at home May 24, 1921, in Chiloquin, Ore., she was the daughter of Ernest and Naomi Cassel.

Betty was preceded in death by first husband Drexel Swanson, husband Hugh Blagden, sister Patricia Dodge Sinclair and twin sister Berta Moratto Swanson on July 23, 2011.

She is survived by her three children: Barney Swanson (Sophia), Karen “Candy” Cathey (Dale), Krista Fullan (Eric); four grandchildren: Eric Swanson (Ann), Nicole Polk (Mike), Carey Cathey (Kari Lee), Lindsey Prange (Ben); great-grandchildren: Beverly Swanson, Christopher Swanson, Ryan Landen, Levi Polk and Caleb Cathey.

Betty’s work career included Del Norte County Parks & Recreation, teaching dance in the Del Norte County school system, Industrial Electric Service Co., Six Rivers Savings & Loan manager and retiring as business office manager at General Telephone Co.
