Brad was born Sept. 21, 1954, in New Bedford, Mass., the third son of Carl and Renee Towers.
Two years later the family moved to San Jose, Calif. Brad graduated from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose in 1972. In December of that year, he married Marjorie Ann MacQuiddy. Their daughter, Allison, was born in January 1985.
In San Jose, Brad worked 12 years at Moore Business Forms as a journeyman press operator and then as a warehouse supervisor. He was later employed as a warehouse manager at Halted Specialties Co. in Santa Clara, Calif., and then spent 10 years as a project coordinator and consultant at United Defense (formerly FMC) in San Jose, where they built and tested the M2 Bradley Armored Fighting Vehicle.
An avid fisherman, Brad moved to Brookings with his wife and daughter in December 1998. In Brookings, he was able to pursue his favorite hobby and was known to many as “Tuggy Moe.” The Towers family purchased the JC Penney Catalog store and started an art rubber stamp and scrapbooking store (now called Creating Lasting Memories). At the time of his death, Brad was employed at Walmart in Crescent City.
Brad loved and served His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Crescent City Church of Christ, where he sang and played guitar on the worship team. He will be remembered for being humble, honest and a good listener, instantly beloved by strangers, especially the downtrodden. A servant at heart, he fulfilled his calling: Come, follow Me, and I will make you a fisher of men, Matthew 4:19.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Towers of Brookings; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Josh Rice of Portland, Ore.; and his mother-in-law, Beth MacQuiddy of Brookings.
Brad was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers Robert Towers and Carl Towers; and his father-in-law Richard MacQuiddy.
A memorial service is scheduled at noon Friday, Nov. 9, at Crescent City Church of Christ, 9th and E Street, in Crescent City.
Donations may be made to Coastal Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444 or Crescent City Church of Christ Audio/Video ministry, P.O. Box 752, Crescent City, CA 95531.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing, II Timothy 4:7-8.
