Chris attended local schools and graduated from Del Norte High School in June 1967. He played football throughout high school and received the best defensive player award his Junior year. He attended College of the Redwoods, where he continued his play of football. With other local players from Del Norte and surrounding schools, they were able to take College of the Redwoods to the State Championship and win.
While attending Fresno State University, Chris was drafted into the U.S. Army in September 1970. He served in the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star for his exemplary service in May 1971.
On June 23, 1973, Chris married another local, Suzanne Scarlett. Early on in his marriage, he was able to finish his college education at Humboldt State University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business on March 19, 1976.
Chris worked for his father at McNamara and Peepe Lumber Company since he was 15 years old until its closing in the early 1980s. He then became manager of McNamara and Peepe Builders Supply until its closing in the 1990s. Chris partnered with Jim Rawlings to open up Crescent Cabinets and worked there until his retirement in November 2011.
Chris was a past member of the local chapter of the Elks B.P.O.E. He also served on the Grand Jury.
His hobbies were watching the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants.Win or lose, he was an avid fan. Chris was thrilled that he could take his granddaughter Scarlett to the Giants games whenever he was in Santa Rosa visiting his children. He also liked to play cards and enjoyed playing pinochle with his family. Chris also enjoyed playing Scrabble with Suzanne. In 2004, Chris won a drawing for tickets to the Super Bowl in New Orleans and was so excited to be taking his son Ryan.
Chris is survived by his wife, Suzanne; daughter, Amy, (Robert) and granddaughter Chloe; son, Ryan, (Kari) and granddaughter Scarlett and grandson Walker; sisters, Saffett Brackman and Polly McNamer (Ray); sister-in-law, Carole Green; brothers-in-law, Bob Scarlett and Tom Scarlett (Cheryl). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ketze and Bill Peepe.
There will be no memorial services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Crescent City Swimming Pool, 377 J Street, Crescent City, CA 95531
