Daniel was born Dec. 29, 1952, in Butte, Mont., to Ralph and Winifred Romy Worthem.
He graduated from Issaquah High School in Issaquah, Wash., in 1970, and went on to pursue his love of the culinary arts.
Chef Daniel served as a widely renowned entrepreneur and restaurateur in Del Norte and Curry counties for 20 years, bringing Bistro Gardens, Café Freddy’s, and Ocean Grill to Brookings, and Bistro Gardens and Bistro Burger to Crescent City. During his lifetime Daniel was involved in the managing of more than 15 restaurants in six states, operating his first at the age of 19.
During his time in Whittier with his daughter, Daniel was a very active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He did not let his debilitating condition encroach on his active lifestyle and instead continued to reach out to those in need within the community. He was truly a gift to the people around him; all who were blessed to spend time with him are sure to never forget his voice.
A memorial service was held at Whittier’s Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 30.

So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
