Donald Leslie Hartwig passed away of a motorcycle accident on May 11, 2013, at the age of 57. Don was born in Canyonville, Ore., on June 22, 1956. 

Don was a longtime resident of Crescent City, where he graduated from Del Norte High School in 1974. Don was an avid outdoors person and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and pretty rocks. His passion was working with his hands, and he created beauty with rocks and wood. He was a very talented carpenter. Don was a devoted father to his two sons. He will be missed by family and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Rheta May Hartwig, and his survivors are: his father, Charles Robert Hartwig of Veneta, Ore.; his sons, Luke Connor Hartwig of Austin, Texas, and Charles Dane Hartwig of Austin, Texas; his sisters, Carol Dianne Dalton of Veneta, Ore., and Nancy Lynn McCauley of Springfield, Ore.; a step-brother, James Applegate of Tacoma, Wash.; his nephews and niece: Ben Dalton Jr. of Veneta, Ore.; Suzanne Smith of Salem, Ore., and Jason Brown of Caldwell, Idaho. He had many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life June 22, 2013, in Crescent City. The location will be announced.
