Duane Aurel Walker Sr., 69, passed away on Saturday June 20, 2009, in Crescent City. He was born August 13, 1939, to Duane R. Walker and Phyllis G. Mansfield-Walker in Crescent City.
Duane belonged to a pioneer family in Del Norte County, he began logging with his father and grandfather when he was 12 years old and continued his logging career with Simpson Timber Company until retiring after working for them for over 25 years.
Duane is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Walker; son, Duane Aurel Walker Jr; daughters, Margaret Moon; Dawn Walker and Susan Walker; grandchildren, Jamie Walker; Michael Moon; Jeffery Moon; Aaron Walker, Delcie Moon; Alicia Walker; Jeff Mathieson; Rebecca Moon; Ashley Walker; Jalea Walker; Beau Walker-Dubreuil; Brendon Walker-Dubreuil; Michael Bridgeman; Brent Walker Dubreuil; Jimmy Walker and seven great- grandchildren, Anna Walker; Hunter Duane Walker; Rathlin Hemmingson; Elizbeth, Milan, Jeffrey and Evelyn Mathieson; cousins, Jack Gay; Dale Mitchel and Nancy Walker.
Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading and spending time with the most important people in his life.
Duane was a lifelong member of the NRA and Moose Lodge.
The family prefers contributions be made in Duane’s memory to the Chaney House in Medford, Ore.
Private family services were held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
