Obituary: Edward Wilson Baxter (September 23, 1937 – October 23, 2012)

Edward Wilson Baxter was born on September 23, 1937, to Jean and Samuel Baxter. He passed away on October 23, 2012, in Crescent City. Ed graduated from Antioch High School and went into the U.S. Navy, where he served a short term and received an honorable discharge due to a bad back from childhood.

Leaving the service Ed went into the retail management, having worked at Hilson in both Antioch and Concord. After leaving Hilson, he went to work for Kauffmans and later at the Mens Warehouse.

Ed spent most of his life in San Francisco, which he loved.  He was a very sports-loving person. His love of the SF Giants and the SF 49ers was very important to him.  Ed also enjoyed reading Herb Caen every morning.

In 2001 after open heart surgery, Ed moved to Crescent City to live and help take of his mother. He became an active member of the First Baptist Church.

Ed is survived by his sisters Mrs. Kathleen Pieretti of Carson City, Nev., and Mrs. Marilynn  Ladendorff of Crescent City.

A memorial service will he held at the First Baptist Church on Friday, November 2, 2012, at 1 p.m.

The family request contributions to one’s favorite charity or the  First Baptist Church in Edward’s memory.

Please sign the family’s online guestbook at wiers
