Our sweetest loving caring grandmother, mother and sister Elizabeth (Liz) Nebzeska-Murphy passed away September 16th at the age of 92. She grew up on Point Lobos Dairy Ranch in Carmel with her parents Marianna Weiss, Leonardo Monzo and her sister Franny Newman.
Eventually moving to Seaside where her parents bought their first home. Liz went to school at San Carlos Catholic School and was the first class to graduate from Monterey High School in 1939. After high school Liz married and gave life to two beautiful daughters Elizabeth Scholes and Cynthia Webb. She worked at the Fort Ord Army Base driving trucks and buses for the service men, eventually becoming a grocery clerk at Purity Market until she moved to Gasquet in 1970.
Liz’s passion was knitting and sewing for her grandchildren, hunting, spending many early mornings on the seashores of Crescent City digging for clams and fishing on the Klamath River. She was active in several ladies clubs and volunteered many afternoons at the Del Norte Museum, Saint Vincent De Paul’s Benefit Shop and The Elks in Crescent City.
Liz was preceded in death by her husbands Charlie Nebzeska, Melvin Murphy, Calvin Litch and her daughter Elizabeth Scholes. She is survived by her sister Francis Newman of Seaside; daughter Cynthia Webb of Marina;
Please join the family Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. for mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E Street, Crescent City, followed by a Celebration of Life.
