Ervin A. Benson
Ervin A. Benson passed away peacefully on July 20, 2013. He was born in Carson, N.D., on April 15, 1936. His family moved to Modesto, Calif., when Ervin was young. He attended local schools and graduated from Modesto High in 1955. It was there where he met his wife of over 50 years, Dennis McGrath. They were married while Ervin was in the Marine Corps. He and Dennis moved to Crescent City in 1965, where Ervin worked for Crescent Moving and Storage and later delivering Foremost milk. In 1977, he began working for Vita Sea, a fish processing plant, until 1988 when the plant shut down.

Ervin loved airplanes and Fords. To him, Ford was the only company that made cars and trucks. He had good friends, but none like Dick Roberts, Roger Long and especially Don Long.

Ervin is survived by son and daughter-in-law Brian and Laura Benson and granddaughters Blair and Sydney Benson. Ervin was preceded in death by his wife, Dennis.

At Ervin’s request, services will not be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Del Norte Scholarship Foundation/Dennis Benson Memorial Scholarship, 125 Cable Lane, Crescent City, CA 95531, or to one’s favorite charity.

Please sign the family’s online guest book at wiersmortuary.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
