Retirement didn’t seem like too much fun to her and she helped open and subsequently worked at the local St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop for the next 15 years. Eunice was a wonderful mother and a very proud grandparent to her two grandchildren. She was a dear friend to those who were lucky enough to have known her. Eunice loved to travel and fulfilled her dream of traveling to Rome to the Vatican. She always had a smile.
There were several people in Eunice’s life that she loved and revered. They were Geraldine and the late Jim Safford, Viola and the late Jim Dennison and Fernanda and Jose Santos.
Eunice is survived by her spouse, Pelino Fernandes; sons Shawn and wife Jamie Fernandes and her two grandchildren, McKenzy and Kayleb, all of Crescent City; Andrew and wife Karen Fernandes of Eagle Creek, Ore.; sister Jackie and husband Leonard McVey of Yuba City and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Patrick Dean Patapoff and mother and stepfather Evelyn and Mike Patapoff.
Graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Friday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. Immediately following services, family and friends are invited for a potluck get-together at Florence Keller Park. Please bring a dish to share.
