Obituary: Gayne (Gayno) Baxter Williams (Dec. 6, 1944 – Aug. 19, 2014)

Gayno grew up in Bullcreek, Calif., and was married  for 29 years to Sherry Lynn Williams, who passed at the age of 56. Gayno served in the Army 1001 Airborne and was a Vietnam Vet. He worked in the logging industry in Humboldt County and in the fishing industry in Crescent City and was well-known around the Crescent City marina. Gayno also participated and played a big part in help and recovery for people in the AA community. Gayno was also active in the community of Crescent City, participating in the crab feed. Gayno was a big part of many lives and will be greatly missed by all. Per his own words, he had a “kick-butt awesome” life.

Gayno is survived by his two brothers, Berry Williams and Dudley Williams, and his sister Dorla Williams. He and Sherry had six children, all boys: Norman and his wife, Jenee; Kevin; Mickey; Cliffton and his wife, Crystal; George; and Nicholas and his wife, Debbie. Gayno is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Christopher, 27; Jonathan, 25; Joseph, 16; Paige, 12; Cody, 11; Makenna, 6; Thomas, 4 and Kira, 1. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Crescent City Grange, 540 Childs, at the corner of Del Norte and Childs.
