Obituary: Henry “Hank” C. Grimes (Dec. 20, 1923 - July 1, 2009)

Henry "Hank" C. Grimes, passed away in Crescent City on July 1, 2009, at the age of 85 years after a short illness. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Grimes in Tahlequah, Okla., on December 20, 1923. Hank moved to Southern California and worked as a farmer before moving to Crescent City in 1952. He worked for 35 years as a mill worker at Medply, which was a plywood mill in the Crescent City area. Hank enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country western music at the convalescent hospital, the senior center and local taverns. He would travel around Crescent City on his scooter-bike with his guitar attached. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Louise Grimes who passed in September 1986 and was the last surviving sibling of six brothers and three sisters. Hank is survived by his son, John of Boise, Idaho; son and daughter, Paul and Kathy of Crescent City and his son, Don of Los Angeles, Calif.; his four grandchildren, John and Stephen of Idaho; Kenny of Oregon and Shawna of Crescent City; his great grandson, Jacob of Idaho and also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Private services have been conducted by Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
