Hoyt Wayne Walker (April 29, 1962 - Apr. 6, 2009)

Hoyt Wayne Walker, 46, passed away on April 6, 2009 after a fishing accident. He was born on April 29, 1962 in Lodi, CA and grew up in Acampo, CA and went to Galt High School. He then moved to Maricopa, CA, there he met the love of his life Jody Kuykendall. They were then married and relocated to Crescent City. Hoyt was an 8 year resident of Del Norte County.

He went into CDC April 2000 and moved up to Crescent City May 2001 where he worked at the Pelican Bay State Prison.

He was a man among men. Hoyt was the best father, husband, son and friend anyone could have ever known. He brought love and happiness to everyone he was around. He had so many friends from south to north. Hoyt loved to be with his family and friends. We couldn’t get enough of Hoyt.

His garden was another passion, which he loved to tend with his mother every chance they had. They would work on it every day until next season and welcomed everyone to come and enjoy. His sons were his life and he went to all their school functions and was totally involved. Hoyt enjoyed fishing with his father and spending quality time with him.

Hoyt touched many peoples lives and brought happiness to everyone around him. His family came first in everything. He loved working on new projects around the home. Hoyt loved taking family vacations. Being with his family was his world. As you can see, he was loved.

Surviving are his wife Jody of 16 years and three sons, Andrew Hoyt Walker, Tanner Troy Jacob Walker and stepson Daniel Sandoval. His mother Donna Walker, sister Tami Woods, brother in law Rory Woods and niece Shyanne Autumn Woods. Also, his father James Hoyt Walker, his stepmother Stephanie Walker, and step sister Janie Berringer and step brother Pat Berringer.

Hoyt Wayne Walker loved so many people and was greatly loved back.

The family prefers family and friends to stop by the family home to contribute a bulb, seeds or a plant as a Memorial Garden will be created in Hoyt’s memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10th from Noon until 5:00 PM at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Foursquare Gospel Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Smith River District Cemetery in Smith River, CA. Family and friends are invited for fellowship at Smith River Baptist at Highlands and Hwy. 101 N., Smith River.
