Floyd’s hobbies included fishing and anything outdoors, but his true passion was sports. He was a football fan but also enjoyed basketball, baseball and others. He found a way to remain active with sports through actively working with Pop Warner, Warrior Bench or any other place where the students were participating. He attended most games and most practices of most of the sports at Del Norte High School. Many times he was given a jersey, a signed ball, a clock, a certificate or something else in appreciation for his time and advice. Many of the athletes still communicated with him after their graduations. He helped Chuck Blackburn announce games for many years. After he no longer was able to help, he would still attend and cheer on his beloved Warriors. He truly had a special place in his heart for the kids and the staff and the entire athletic program.
He was in Kiwanis for many years and particularly enjoyed reading books to the students and giving each student their own book. He also worked in the corn booth at fairs for many years. His most recent volunteer work was at the hospital, where he worked in the one-day stay department.
His presence in our lives will be missed immensely, and though his journey with us has come to an end, his journey with the Lord has just begun. Knowing this will give our family strength moving forward. God Bless you, Dad.
