Obituary: Jeannie (Rowden) McGinnis (Dec. 16, 1945 – July 13, 2012)

Jeannie grew up in Crescent City, attended Crescent Elk Elementary and graduated from Del Norte High School. She was involved in many activities including cheerleading, Drill Team, Student Council and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.

Jeannie worked at the Del Norte Triplicate for seven years and at the Chamber of Commerce for several years. After relocating to Los Angeles, she worked for Bank of America for 20 years. She continued her career with Union Bank.

She enjoyed houseboating on Lake Shasta, traveling to Mexico and spending every Fourth of July in Crescent City.

She will be remembered by her friends and family for her fun-loving spirit and sparkling personality.

Jeannie is survived by her son Jason Evans, her daughter M’Lissa Kurtz, her grandchildren Shane and Kennedy Kurtz and Jazmin Jennings (Evans); siblings Don McHargue, Rick Rowden and Sue Costa. She is also survived by the Class of ‘64, Del Norte High.

Please join us in a celebration of Jeannie’s life to be held Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the home of Patrick and Rose Wilson, 110 Stephanie Lane, Fort Dick.

In lieu of flowers, Jeannie would ask that you offer up a toast with a friend in her honor over a margarita.
