Obituary: John Herbert Buckle (Aug. 18 1927 – Oct. 24, 2011)

John Herbert Buckle was born in Yorkshire, England, on August 18, 1927, and passed away in Crescent City, on October 24, 2011, at the age of 84 years. Having move here from Culver City, Calif., John was a 39-year Del Norte County resident, making his home in Crescent City. He was a Pentecostal Church member. John,  his wife and other family members were part of an evangelistic team for many years.

“Dad, he’s a pearl. He has been beaten and scarred by many trials. Tossed around and broken. But, has come through; as a small tiny gem, a pearl of great value. For our God has allowed adversities, to have their perfect way. Molding and scarring and perfecting in his own way. Without the battle scars, there would have been no pearl; round, smooth and shiny. Matured an example of his enduring faith. Now he’s walking inside those golden gates.” — As quoted by his daughter Renee.

John is survived by his wife Rosemary Buckle of Crescent City; daughters Susan DeWolf of Brookings, Ore.; Renee Wylie of Crescent City; sister Lucy Frowd of England; grandchildren Erin Durgos of Brookings, Ore., and Stephen Stellflug of Marys­ville, Wash.; and great-grandson Johnathan Durgos of Brookings, Ore.

Private services will be held.  Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
