Obituary: Joseph A. Figueiredo (June 6, 1929 – Oct. 21, 2011)

Lifetime Fort Bragg, CA, resident Joseph A. Figueiredo died on October 21, 2011. He leaves behind his wife, Myra Figueiredo, daughters, Susan Reaves (Crescent City) and Sandra Figueiredo (Eureka), as well as son-in-law, Mark Reaves.

Joe was the son of Joseph S. and Alyce Figueiredo. He was a first generation American whose family immigrated from the Azores. Mr. Figueiredo attended Fort Bragg schools, graduating in 1948 from Fort Bragg High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked briefly at the Union Lumber Company in Fort Bragg before making his living as a commercial fisherman, prior to retirement.

At Mr. Figueiredo’s request, no services were held. His family was present at his burial.
