Kenny Brixey, a resident of Del Norte County for 62 years, died November 13, 2011, at home, with his son Michael and wife Jackie at his bedside. He had a varied work life. Kenny joined the Merchant Marines during World War II at the age of 16. He worked on the Alaskan Highways, spent time working in the woods here in Del Norte County, commercial fished and then became a longshoreman working as a crane operator for 35 years until he retired. He will always be remembered for his flashing blue eyes, great smile and a wonderful sense of humor.
His love of family was great and almost on par, was his love of hunting and fishing. He was an avid trap shooter and built the Rowdy Creek Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by mother and father Everett Brixey and
Mattie Brixey, brother Cleo Brixey and his most beloved daughter Toni
Brixey.
Survivors are his loving wife of 57 years, Jackie Brixey. His son
Michael and wife Linda Brixey, son-in-law Mike Souza, grandsons Jason
Brixey and wife Jodie, and Matthew Brixey, great-grandchildren Jack
Brixey and Kaydee Jo Brixey.
Kenny wished no memorials or services, however, cremation has taken
