Lance Boies Corrigan went to be with his mother and our Lord on January 23, 2012. He was born in Salem, Ore., on August 1, 1952, to Charles and Bettie Corrigan. He grew up in North Bend, Ore., where he attended North Bend High School. He played football until he graduated in 1970.
Lance then moved to Olympia, Wash., where he started drag racing. His first race was in 1972 at the Puyallup Raceway. In 1978, he raced in a club series, of which he became champion. He raced until he moved to Stockton, Calif., with his family.
In 1988, he graduated from the Department of Corrections Academy and
relocated to Crescent City, to work at Pelican Bay State Prison. He was a
corrections officer until his stroke in January of 2010.
He is survived by his four daughters: Stacie (Bert) Rodriguez, Megan
Corrigan, Lauren (Shad) Hail and Ashley Corrigan; his father, Charles
Corrigan; siblings, Randy Corrigan, Shawn Corrigan and Tracy Corrigan;
and grandchildren, Bryson Rodriguez, Sahalie Rodriguez, Brayden
Rodriguez and Gracelynn Hail.
Viewing will be at Redwood Memorial Care, 611 9th St., on Sunday,
Jan. 29, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at
3 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Cornerstone Church, 1281 Douglas
St., in Crescent City. Interment will be at a later date at Forest
Cemetery in Olympia, Wash.
