Obituary: Lawrence Cavyell (Sept. 18, 1923 - Apr. 25, 2009)

Lawrence Cavyell, 85, passed away on April 25, 2009 in Crescent City, Calif. He was born on September 18, 1923 in Wolf Point, Mont. He was a 56 year resident of Del Norte County.

Lawrence was a veteran having proudly served this country with the Army During WW II. He was a member of VFW Post #1381. Prior to his retirement, Lawrence worked at Miller Rellim, McNamara & Peepe for many years and also worked for the City of Crescent City in the Mechanic Shop. He enjoyed his travels to Alaska and Canada. Lawrence loved to hunt with his dog MO, fishing, gardening, camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, May Cavyell of Crescent City; children, Larry Cavyell and wife,  Becky of Crescent City; Barbara Lincoln and husband, Don of Willits, Calif.; Susan Norfolk and husband, Ron of Redwood City, Calif.; David Cavyell and wife, Caralyn of Crescent  City; Jessie Scott and husband, Brian of Crescent City.

Brothers, Frank Cavyell of Roseville, Calif. and Harry Cavyell of Salem, Ore.; sister, Minnie Cavyell of Portland, Ore.

He had 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

Private services were held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
