Obituary: Lena Carson (Sept. 24, 1914 - Sept. 10, 2009)

Born in Danville, Kan., Lena spent most of her early life in Kansas and Nebraska.  In the 1940’s she and her husband, Alfred, moved to Crescent City, where they ran a dry cleaning business and later an appliance repair business.  She resided in Crescent City until 2005 when she moved to be closer to family.  As a resident of Crescent City for more than 50 years, she was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Odd Fellows/Rebekahs and the Methodist Church. Lena was married for 53 years to Alfred E. Carson, who preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter Dorothy Plato of Las Vegas, Nev., in 2008.

Surviving are daughters, Shirley (Martin) Stone of Yerington, Nev., and Debbie (John) Hester of Reno, Nev.; sons, Ron Carson of Austin, Texas, Mike (Ruth) Carson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Milt (Barbara) Carson of Tillamook, Ore.;  16 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Crescent City United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31.

Lena will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
