Leonard was born February 12, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, to George and Elizabeth Hall, and passed away October 17, 2011, in Crescent City. Leonard was a fun and gentle man who fought and won many physical battles through the years. Leonard was a Railroad Yardmaster, retiring in March of 1988. He was an artist, both painting with oil and teaching ceramics. Leonard loved baseball season and became a huge San Francisco Giants fan.
Leonard married Rae Cole on August 27, 1955, and raised daughter Lori
(Hailey) and son Laurence (Larry) in Boardman, Ohio. After the death of
Rae, he married Virginia Markovich and they lived in Poland, Ohio. When
Virginia passed away in 2003, Leonard came to live with his daughter
and son-in-law Lori and Weldon Hailey in Crescent City.
Leonard was preceded in death by wife, Rae Cole Hall, son Laurence
Hall and second wife Virginia Markovich. He is survived by his daughter
Lori Hailey, grandchildren Carrie Mello, Jenifer Taylor, Paul Hailey,
Shelly Bommelyn and 12 great-grandchildren.
Leonard’s family would like to thank the first responders, Crescent
City Fire, Del Norte Ambulance and the compassionate staff of Sutter
Coast Emergency Room, especially Dr. Marks, David and Paul and to Dr.
Dana Osborne for her compassion during a previous emergency two years
ago.
Arrangements are being made through Redwood Memorial Funeral home and
the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
